Q: Why did CARPROOF decide to rebrand?

A: There are two main reasons for the rebrand:

  • To leverage CARFAX’s impressive consumer brand awareness
  • To align CARFAX as the global brand within our parent company, IHS Markit

 

Q: When will this change be effective?

A: October 29th, 2018.

 

Q: How will this change impact my customers?

A: There will be limited impact to your customers. Instead of seeing CARPROOF signage and stickers around your dealership, they’ll see CARFAX Canada signage and stickers. Instead of seeing CARPROOF logos and reports on your website, they’ll see CARFAX Canada logos and reports.

To help you explain our name change to your customers, we’ve created tent cards that you can display at your dealership. Talk to your CARFAX Canada Rep to get yours.

Q: Will CARFAX Canada reports look the same as American CARFAX reports?

A: No. CARFAX Canada reports will be the same as CARPROOF reports, with updated logo and colours. The information in our reports will not change.

 

Q: Will CARFAX Canada reports have the same data as American CARFAX reports?

A: No. Our data sources will continue to be different from CARFAX in the U.S. The CARFAX Canada report is a rebranded CARPROOF report that offers Canadian vehicle history data that is unique to us. Many of our data sources are exclusive to the Canadian market, and do not appear on American CARFAX reports.

 

Q: What should I tell customers looking for a CARPROOF report?

A: You can tell your customers that we’ve changed our name to CARFAX Canada, but the information/data in our reports is still the same.


Q: What do I have to do once your name changes to CARFAX Canada?

A: To update your website, download the CARFAX Canada logo package and CARFAX Canada info for your website – we’d appreciate if you would align your timing as close as possible to our launch date of October 29, 2018. To get updated signage and collateral for your store, reach out to your CARFAX Canada representative or email support@carfax.ca.

If you have a badging integration with CARPROOF and our badges automatically appear in your online vehicle listings, we will be updating the logo and badges on our end and pushing it live on October 29th. Nothing is required from you to make this happen. If your site provider or internal Development team have any questions or concerns, have them reach out to support@carfax.ca.


Q: How do I update the CARPROOF logos on my website?

A: The CARFAX Canada logo package and logo usage guidelines are available for you to download here.


Q: Will I have to change user IDs?

A: No. We will be changing the dealer login page from dealer.carproof.com to dealer.carfax.ca, but you will still use the same login credentials. If you cannot remember your login credentials, click here.


Q: Will you replace the CARPROOF POP (signage, stickers, etc.) in my dealership?

A: If you haven’t received your new CARFAX Canada POP yet, reach out to your CARFAX Canada representative.


Q: What kind of CARFAX Canada POP will there be?

A: We’ll continue to offer the same type of POP that we’ve offered in the past, including car window stickers, rear-view mirror hangtags and door stickers.
